What is the Titans’ biggest roster need post-draft?

Fox Sports says the Tennessee Titans biggest roster need is at tight end, but they failed to consider an area of more need defensively.
The Tennessee Titans have had a busy offseason so far. After firing Ran Carthon and hiring Mike Borgonzi, the Titans were somewhat active in the early wave of free agency, bringing in Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Zeitler to strengthen the offensive line, adding some quarterback depth, and adding defensive personnel. Then they had the 2025 NFL draft, where they added nine new faces to the roster.
Now that the draft is over, undrafted free agents have been signed or invited to mini-camps, it’s time to take a look at what the Titans still need to do. Fox Sports released a list of each team’s biggest need that hasn’t been addressed, and for the Titans, it was at tight end.
Biggest need: Tight end A good, fast, reliable tight end can be the best friend for a young quarterback, but Cam Ward might not have one in Tennessee. The incumbent, Chig Okonkwo, is an underrated player, but far from elite. He’s averaged 53 catches for 504 yards over the last two seasons and isn’t much of a red-zone target. The Titans did add Texas tight end Gunnar Helm in the fourth round, has the size (6-5, 241) and speed to be a good one. But he’ll need to improve his blocking to consistently get on the field.
While Chig Okonkwo leaves room for desire at tight end, but part of the reason for his low stats the last two seasons is who has been throwing him the ball. It’s not the same guy this year, and Okonkwo is an excellent blocker. Gunnar Helm will develop during training camp and preseason, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him hit the field this fall.
Tight end is not the weakest spot on the Titans’ roster, though. Jeffery Simmons is the only right defensive end. Sebastian Joseph-Day is on the left side with T.K. McLendon, who played just seven games in his rookie season. The Titans need depth on the line. They addressed depth at linebacker and in the secondary in the draft, but if any player on the defensive line is injured, the Titans will find themselves in a difficult situation.
It’s always possible to move players around on the field, but it’s not always ideal. Tight end is much less of a concern; the Titans have four on the depth chart right now, and let’s not forget that Josh Whyle stepped in when Okonkwo was injured last year. The tight end position isn’t the highlight of the roster, but it’s certainly not the biggest need either.
