INDIANAPOLIS — A Perry Township student is recovering after an overdose at school.
A letter sent to parents of students in the district obtained by 13News said the high school student was using a THC vape that unknowingly contained fentanyl. Narcan was administered to the student twice, and the student regained consciousness before first responders got to the school.
“We are thankful for our administration, police and school nurses for their swift and decisive actions today,” the letter read.
The student was taken to the emergency room for further treatment. Their condition was described as “stable.”
“This incident highlights the very real dangers associated with vaping, particularly as many of these vapes are being laced with dangerous and illicit substances,” the district wrote to parents. “While we are relieved that this situation did not result in a tragedy, it is crucial that we work together to ensure the safety of all students.”
