NVIDIA did their best to bury the reviews of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB by instructing board partners not to send samples of that graphics card to the media. This was a very shady move, especially when both the 16 GB and 8 GB models launched at the same time and no one except the few media outlets in Asia with direct access to board partners had a chance to test the cards.
Eventually, other outlets were able to buy the 8 GB cards themselves, but such reviews take time, and we are only getting proper testing results after a few days. Hardware Unboxed was able to secure a unit—a card they had to buy themselves, mind you—because NVIDIA still refuses to ship these cards for testing.

The Australian media outlet known for their detailed testing, comparing many games and settings, spent days meticulously comparing data between the 16 GB and 8 GB models. They provided a simple conclusion: the 8 GB is “instantly obsolete”.
The RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB still has its purpose, though. Esports games, which typically have low GPU requirements, can run just as smoothly on this card as on the 16 GB model. But this isn’t always the case. As they correctly point out, the price of 4K monitors is now at the point where they cost less than this GPU, and usually, monitors are a longer‑term investment. After all, 4K resolution was one of the marketing points ten years ago; it shouldn’t surprise anyone if gamers expect all modern GPUs to perform well at that resolution.
Naturally, the RTX 5060 Ti will deliver good performance in most games, but as pointed out by HWU, this will often require tinkering with game settings. For most, being able to plug and play is one of the key advantages of a modern GPU, and since they are already paying hundreds of dollars, that shouldn’t be a problem with the RTX 5060 Ti.

Hardware Unboxed encountered many problems with the 8 GB model. A lower 1% FPS is just one of them, as games often lowered texture quality to the point where the game looked entirely different than on the 16 GB model—not to mention some games crashing or not working at all.
Worth noting that HWU used a modern PC with a PCIe 5.0–enabled interface; performance will be worse on PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 systems.
