The Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Lenovo Legion gaming tablet is set to launch sometime in May 2025. Just recently, the company shared the design details of the tab, and now, through one of the recent teaser posts, it has confirmed the return of a feature: expandable storage.
Looking back, the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3, which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, doesn’t have any expandable storage slot. However, its predecessor, the Gen 2 gaming tablet, sports a microSD card slot that can expand the tablet’s storage by up to 1 TB (1 TB Samsung Evo Select curr. $69.99 on Amazon).
It’s not just Lenovo that has omitted the feature from its last offering. The RedMagic Nova, another gaming tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, doesn’t have any expandable card slot. Now, while Lenovo has shared that the Gen 4 will sport a TF card slot, it’s not really any different than a microSD card slot.
To be specific, both TF and microSD cards support the same standard, and they can be used interchangeably. They are just marketed under a different name. Nonetheless, the return of this feature on the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Lenovo gaming tablet would mean easy storage expansion for the users.
RedMagic is also working on a Snapdragon 8 Elite gaming tablet, and it’s possible that it may feature expandable storage as well. As for the other specs of the Legion Tab Gen 4, the company has confirmed an 8.8-inch screen, which is expected to sport a “3K” resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate and a single camera on the back. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
