JoJo Siwa says her time on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ U.K. has helped her realize she’s ‘not a lesbian’ and that she now identifies as queer: ‘F— the L, I’m going to the Q.’
Four years after coming out publicly, JoJo Siwa is still exploring her sexuality — and now Celebrity Big Brother U.K. has been an important part of that journey.
During Tuesday’s livestream of the reality series, the singer and actress revealed that her time on the show has helped her come to a new realization about her identity.
“I feel, like, so queer — do you know what I mean?” Siwa asked housemate Danny Beard in fan-recorded footage of the livestream.
She continued, “I think that’s the thing. I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, and I think being here I’ve realized, ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer.’ And I think that’s really cool.”
During her confession, Beard, a RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner who also identifies as queer, embraced Siwa.
“I’m switching letters!” Siwa then shouted, to which Beard replied, “You’re queer, bitch!”
The Dance Moms alum added, “F— the L, I’m going to the Q! That’s what I love about sexuality.”
Representatives for Siwa did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

Siwa’s sexuality has been an ongoing topic of discussion throughout this season. On the show’s April 16 episode, Siwa and Love Island alum Chris Hughes were spotted communicating in a secret language, which she later revealed they’d created so that she would feel more comfortable discussing her gender identity.
“I’ve met a lot of females — love them, don’t feel like them,” she said through tears. “Met a lot of males — love them, definitely not them. Met a lot of people in my life that are nonbinary, and these beautiful nonbinary people are who I feel the most like and… I don’t know, it’s not something I want to say about myself yet, but it’s something that is confusing, and that’s probably why we were talking about it last night.”
Siwa first opened up about her sexuality in January 2021, when she was just one month into dating her first girlfriend, Kylie Prew. She initially declined to label herself, and later that year she told EW that she’d known since she was very young that she was “never straight.”
“But I also was never like, ‘Oh, I’m gay,'” she said at the time. “And I told myself for a long time… ‘If I have someone to come out with, then I will come out.'”
Siwa later referred to herself as “gay,” and then controversially dubbed herself the “CEO of gay pop” in 2024.
Her sexuality was a talking point earlier in the Big Brother season, when fellow contestant Mickey Rourke questioned her about it in the third episode.
“Me? Girls. My partner is nonbinary,” Siwa told Rourke, referring to her influencer girlfriend, Kath Ebbs.

“If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” Rourke replied, to which Siwa responded, “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”
Rourke later told Hughes that he planned to “vote the lesbian out real quick.”
Siwa, who overheard his comment, replied, “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning.”
In another incident, Rourke shouted out, “I need a f–,” before gesturing to Siwa and adding, “I’m not talking about you.”
Rourke was formally reprimanded for the slur and then later agreed to exit the show for his threatening behavior and using foul language directed at another housemate.
