Ozempic is pretty new for those wanting it to lose weight, and celebrities like Jeremy Clarkson and Amy Schumer have shared their experiences.
While Ozempic is still rather new when it comes to being taken as a weight loss drug, there are some people who’ve been on it for multiple years now.
A whole host of famous faces are injecting themselves with the appetite suppressing drugs in order to keep the svelte figures of stardom, but popular demand for the likes of Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro is also strong among the rest of us normal folk.
Many people who’ve been taking it have been doing so for weeks or even months and either started noticing the impact it’s had on them or finding that it didn’t really work for them.

However, there are some people who’ve been taking the drug – which is designed as a treatment for type 2 diabetes – for a long time who know best the impact it has over an extended period of time.
NBC spoke to a number of people with plenty of experience taking Ozempic in the hopes of finding out what happens when you’re on it for years.

Among those they spoke to was a 54-year-old woman named Barbie Jackson-Williams who started taking the drug back in 2021.
She found that it helped her make lifestyle changes such as swapping out less healthy foods for better options and quitting the unhealthy treats she wanted to stay away from.

However, she said that people were ‘just taking it just to get skinny and that’s not true’, saying that many who start on the drug don’t realise that they still ‘have to do the work’ of weight loss.
Other people the outlet spoke to agreed that just jabbing yourself with Ozempic wasn’t a ticket to losing weight.
Edward Matias, 45, told them it ‘takes work and commitment’, and if someone was hoping they could just take some Ozempic and ‘think they can eat anything at all’ then they’d get a ‘rude awakening’.

He’s been on the drug for a year and seven months and in that time he’s shed about 80lbs, and for many of those taking Ozempic on a more long term basis they have found themselves losing significant amounts of weight.

However, they reckon that Ozempic was more of a way to push for lifestyle changes that made them healthier than being a ‘magic bullet’ that fixed all woes.
Various celebrities who’ve spoken about the impact of taking Ozempic and said it wasn’t for them have also discussed some of the side effects.
Jeremy Clarkson said he was ‘sick a lot’ because his body didn’t want to eat but his ‘mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut’.
Amy Schumer said she was left ‘bedridden’ and ‘vomiting’ after trying Ozempic, but said she’d had a ‘great’ experience with Mounjaro.
